Radically De-centralized Waste Management

There were several passing mentions at our Design Public conclave (and at the recent Unbox festival) about the idea of “radically de-centralized waste management” – waste management systems that do not rely on a traditional, underground sewers.

There’s an interesting organization called Sanergy that’s including an additional twist on the idea by taking the waste collected and converting it into fertilizer and energy.
